Biography
Temitope Odebiyi with the stage name TOPSTICKS, is an Award winning female drummer based in Nigeria. Topsticks started her drumming career at a very tender age and now has over 20 years of drumming experience with over a decade of stage performance. Having carved a niche in the Nigerian music industry, Topsticks has been profiled as the best female drummer in Nigeria and amongst the very best in Africa. She was recently endorsed as the African Ambassador for Hit like a Girl. Her successful drumming career has given her both local and International recognition. She has performed and shared stage with top Gospel Artists in her country and featured them in her concert (TOPSTICKS LIVE IN CONCERT). Topsticks has been profiled and featured on several local and International newspapers, TV and radio stations including Kenya’s Africa24 Media and the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC. Temitope is a life coach and inspirational speaker who has facilitated several leadership programs and summits at The Lagos Business School, The Breath of Life Ministry, Babcock University High School and other local/ International Youth Development Centres. She served as President of Eden (a Fela Durotoye leadership initiative) OOU chapter. She holds a certificate in Servant Leadership – The Deciding Difference, Management Strategies for People and Resources and Understanding the right of Women and Girls, from Young African Leaders Initiative. She was awarded Youth of the Year 2017 and 2018 at Breath of Life. For about a decade, Temitope has been under the mentorship and tutelage of her Pastor, Bishop S.P. Jedafe. Her sense of responsibility has seen her grow to become the Pastor of the Breath of Life Ministry Youth Church, where she also anchors a session for Entrepreneurs, being one herself. She has a platform where she mentors over 100 female drummers and another group of young leaders in Africa. She is working towards becoming the Chancellor of TOUZAR UNIVERSITY. Temitope has a Diploma in Music from Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) School of Music, Diploma in Law from Olabisi Onabanjo University. She is a trained percussionist from Peterking’s College of Music. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Diplomatic Studies, Masters of Arts in History and Strategic Studies and PhD in view.
