„It has been a dream and a goal of mine to be a paiste artist ever since I started studying the drums at 10 years old. Whether it was the sound, the look, the name, the reputation, or the artists that play them, I was drawn to these cymbals from the second I knew they existed! Paiste cymbals are bold, complex, and beautiful. It is an honor to play them!“

Biography

Hey everyone! I am Sampson Hellerman. I was born in New York City in 1992. When I was 9 years old, my father and I were on a road trip through the southeast when we stumbled upon a mom and pop music shop in Farmville, VA. My dad bought me my first pair of drumsticks that day. After a year of drumming on the dashboard of the car I decided to start my first band at age 10, this kicked off 8 years of gigging around the NYC club circuit (as well as constantly moving apartments after getting kicked out due to practicing drums loudly). I was greatly influenced at a young age by drummers such as Jim Gordon, Levon Helm, Steve Gadd, Steve Jordan, Joe Russo, Taylor Hawkins, JR Robinson, Vinnie Colaiuta, and many other incredible players. After graduating high school I attended Berklee College of Music and there started the band "Ripe" early on during my freshman year. While Ripe was beginning to get moving I was simultaneously and constantly recording and gigging with other artists around the Boston scene, as well as touring whenever the opportunity arose. However, over the last 8 years Ripe has become a full time job and a juggernaut of a touring act (if I may say so myself), continuously doing laps around the country year after year and selling out venues from coast to coast while also making and releasing records. I am very proud of the work we have done and continue to do! I am also beyond proud to be part of the Paiste family!
