Biography

Sami karppinen (b. 1971) is a musician from sodankylä, Finland. Sami started playing drums in 1983, at the age of 12. Influences:Neil peart,Billy cobham,Dave weckl,Dennis chambers,Simon phillips,Deen castronovo. Playing with paiste cymbals since 1985. Sami moved to sweden 1985 due to lack of heavier music scene in finland. Did random recordings,studio sessions in stockholm until he joined band therion 1997 and has done tours,recordings with the band. Sami is currently working as session/studio drummer in stockholm sweden. Sami is also working as main drum/keyboard tech for swedish band opeth+sometimes working with other bands too as a drumtech.
