Biography
Since 2011 Rich Scannella has been the drummer for Jon Bon Jovi & the Kings of Suburbia. Rich has also performed with Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, Steven Van Zandt & the Disciples of Soul, and Hubert Sumlin among others. He played with Bon Jovi on the South American leg of their 'Because We Can' tour, which was the highest grossing tour of 2013. In addition, Rich has toured the USA, Europe, UK, Japan, and Canada. He has written articles for Modern Drummer Magazine and currently teaches music at Rider University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. As a session drummer Rich’s playing has been heard in TV shows and in the 2013 film Lullaby staring Amy Adams, Jennifer Hudson, and Terrence Howard. Rich attended The Collective (Drummers Collective) in New York City, is endorsed by DW Drums, Paiste Cymbals, and Ahead Drumsticks, leads his own band The Rich Scannella Group, and teaches private drum instruction in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Sound character: Deep, dark, rich, brilliant, warm. Wide range, fairly complex mix. Even, balanced, very responsive feel. Pearly, wooden ping over a wide, deep, full wash. Big, swelling crash sound. Strong, articulate embedded bell. An ultimate classic sound, developed in 1967 during one of popular music's most revolutionary eras.
