Biography

At the age of 6 René Creemers starts to play the drums. From 1977 he studies classical percussion at the Arnhem Conservatory where he graduates cum laude in 1982. What follows is a carrier as band and solo drummer. First in local bands, some later in the Dutch/German band called Blowbeat. With this band René plays a lot of shows throughout the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland between the years of 1983 and 1991. Between 1991 and 2015 René appears in many different projects, bands, ensembles . In 2018 René, together with bassist and son Teun Creemers, founded the Jazz/punk band Spunk! With this band he is currently playing. From 1991 and ever since René has been doing lots of concerts, masterclasses and clinics. Initially he travels through the west of Europe for various solo performances. In 2000 he starts Drumbassadors together with Wim de Vries. With this drum duo-concept he gives and has given countless of concerts, clinics and masterclasses in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and Asia. Between 1992 and 2012 René has been chosen 12 times as best Fusiondrummer BeNeLux by the readers of the Slagwerkkrant. Additionally as a visiting lecturer he has given various workshops and masterclasses all over the world. From 1988 René has been a drums teacher at the Conservatory of Arnhem and ever since 1999 at the Rockacademy in Tilburg.
