Biography
Pepe Damián; the last son of the Mexican renowned guitarist Beto Bermúdez, was born in Mexico City the 12 of June of 1975. He started playing drums when he was 9 years old with his father, playing cultural events and concerts all over México. At the age of 16 he decides to continue his studies at the Arizona Western College in Arizona where he gets the drum seat at the AWC Big Band playing festivals and big band contests over Utah and Arizona. After a couple of years he gets back to Mexico City and gets invited into the band playing for the singer Mijares. Over all these years he has played for artists and singers like Aleks Syntek, Timbiriche, Benny Ibarra, María León, Emmanuel, Pandora, Mijares, Flans, Armando Manzanero y Tania Libertad, Maria del Sol, La 5ª. Estación and many others going all over the continent. Recently he's been producing and songwriting for Sasha, Benny y Erik, Timbiriche & Ilse y Mimi (Flans). His experience has taken him to the studio recording important albums like Sin bandera's "Sin Bandera", twice Best Album Latin Grammy & Grammy winner, Benny, Mijares, Kabah, Moenia, Ha-Ash, Lu, Kalimba & Alejandro Fernández among others, he has participated on productions for Peter Walsh & Alan Parsons too. Pepe Damian has been touring with different artists and bands playing over a thousand shows on some of the most important concert halls in America like the Teatro Metropolitan and the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, as well as the Madison Square Garden in N.Y. and the Greek Theater in CA. Soundtracks also have been an important part of his career, he has participated on Mexican movies like; Matando Cabos, Puños Rosas, Zapata, La Última Noche, El Tigre de Santa Julia y Cero y Van Cuatro. Some of the most inspiring influences for him are Jazz and Rock musicians and bands like Herbie Hancock, John Mc Laughlin, Led Zeppelin y King Crimson. Since Pepe Damian started playing drums professionally he has collaborated with some of the most important bands in the Jazz and Rock Mexican scene, here are some of the bands; Wet Paint with Roberto Arballo “Betuco”, Vº Grado with Víctor Patrón, Tenoch with Nando y Pepe Hernández, Jam with Pepe Moran, Los Veltons with Sabo Romo, Benny, MOTEL, Timbiriche, and his projects MICKA, Deep Miles & the brand new pop rock band 2080 VEINTE/OCHENTA.
