Paul Taylor is a second generation Memphis musician. A Grammy/Emmy nominated multiinstrumentalist who has been drumming since he was 3 years old- Paul has been a mainstay onthe Memphis music scene for over 30 years, and has recorded and toured with many artists,including Chuck Prophet, Amy LaVere, Robert Ellis, Hope Clayburn’s Soul Scrimmage, MightySouls Brass Band, Eric Gales, Shawn Lane, Reba Russell Band, North MS Allstars, AnnPeebles and many more.Paul is known in Memphis for his distinctive creative voice on the drums- fluent in Jazz, funk,rock, country, hip hop and more.Paul also has many releases under his own name, as well as under the nom de plume NewMemphis Colorways.

Sound character: Dark, warm, smoky, breathy. Fairly wide range, complex mix. Soft feel with a quick response. Very well crashable. Controllable, peppery stick sound over a dark layered oriental, smoky wash. A ride cymbal that can easily be used in a small jazz club setting and flourish in other styles such as blues or country music.

Extremely lively cymbal for broad accents and crashes in intimate to semi-loud settings.
