Nicky Loman is a professional drummer, based in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He started playing drums after being blown away by the power and sound of Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor. He attended a high school for music and dance in Rotterdam (Havo voor Muziek en Dans). After finishing, Nicky started his music studies at the Rotterdam conservatory Codarts University of the Arts, where he graduated cum laude in 2011. During his final study year, Nicky got to play with Stephan Geusebroek’s New Amsterdam Orchestra, an orchestra with an occupancy of 4 to 100 people. The New Amsterdam Orchestra was the start of his professional music career. Playing various styles of music with great instrumentalists and the biggest Dutch and Belgium artists. Loman went on to work with a long list of notable pop and rock artists, including: Bobby Kimball (TOTO), Chance Howard (Prince, The Time), Leo Sayer, Julian Velard, Kumar Sanu, Conchita Wurst, Tara McDonald, Belle Perez, Natalia, Alain Clark, Anita Meyer, Berget Lewis, Frank Boeijen, Glennis Grace, Ilse DeLange, Janine Janssen, Loïs Lane, OG3NE, Rene Froger, Trijntje Oosterhuis, and Xander de Buisonjé. In 2013 Nicky’s drums were recorded for hiphop artist Mr. Probz. The song ‘Waves’ became a number 1 in Europe and worldwide succes followed upon being remixed by German DJ and record producer Robin Schulz. After touring trough Europe with Mr. Probz, Nicky was asked to join the band of famous saxophonist Candy Dulfer. Candy, who rose to fame with her high profile collaborations with Dave Stewart, and of course the legendary Prince, was recording her new album "Together". Nicky joined Candy’s world tour for the next five years. At the moment, Nicky is happy to share the stage with Waylon. A great singer who represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, finishing in second place in the final.
Sound character: Full, silky, powerful, deep. Fairly wide range, fairly complex mix. Responsive, soft feel with powerful attributes. Somewhat papery stick sound with a glassy undertone over fairly dark and cloudy wash. Very versatile ride cymbal with good crash-ability for classic rock music applications. Developed in co-operation with the legendary "Van Halen" drummer Alex Van Halen.

Sound character: Dark, warm, strong, exotic, sizzling, earthy. Wide range, slightly complex and dense mix. Fairly soft, responsive feel. Great for explosive, strong, dark accents. Complex, washy ride sound. A modern China cymbal with a wide spectrum for various musical applications. “The China is nearly smooth”, states Vinnie Colaiuta.
