Biography
Michael Seyfried grown up in Purkersdorf, Austria. He started playing drums in the age of 10. After passing his final exam at Hegelgasse 12 at the music department in Vienna in 2013, he has studied Jazz and Popular drumming at Vienna Conservatory and did his IGP as well. After spending a year with Walter Grassmann studying at MUK, he has started as a professional drummer. Over these years he has developed his own sound and made himself a name as a Session and Side- drummer who works with a lot of different artists throughout Europe. In 2015 he was one of the winners of the Vic Firth Harvey Mason Play Along Drum Contest. A year later he won the audition and played afterwards at the MM Jazzfestival 2015/16. As a founding member Michael recorded the debut album „Stella Stargazer“ with his own band Swankster in September 2018. As a latin drum artist Michael plays internationally with Enrique Thompson & The Revirado Project, the Latin Jazz Quintett „Entre Nos“ and local with Daniela Soto & Band, and the Salsa band „La Sonora“. In March 2021 the piano player, composer and arranger Juan Felipe Pulido invited him to record his solo album „Así Vivió Pepe Rivero“. In Spring 2022 they released the live album „MedeJazz 2020“ together with „Entre Nos“. In 2016 Michael has created his own session series called the Jazz & Groove Session at Jazz Club Tunnel Vienna, which he opens with a band and leads once a month. Next to his work as a live and studio drummer, he teaches at „Music4fun“ Music school in 1180 Vienna, giving private drumlessons and does Master Classes and Drum Clinics (Beatboxx). Through his stylistic versatility and his passion in Afro Cuban music until Hip Hop and others, he has played with the most diverse artists and bands as J.Hoard (NYC), Marianne Mendt, Andy Lee Lang, Helene Fisher (Opening Show), Lady Sunshine & Mister Moon, Swankster, Yasmo (& die Klangkantine), James Cottrial (guest act), Prim (Trio), Gini (Billie Steirisch), Richard Oesterreicher, Julia Siedl, Thomas Faulhammer, Edi Köhdorfer, Julia Perminova Trio (Concerts at Igor Butman Club, Esse Jazz Club, Jam Club - Moscow), Sasha Skornyakov (RUS), Stefan Pista Bartus (SK), István Gyárfás (HUN), Nikola Zaric (SRB), Fagner Wesley (BRA), Léon Giraldo (COL), etc.
