Biography
Michael began his musical journey learning the piano at age-10 where he eventually migrated over to music sequencing and programming after finishing high school. He then started playing drums at 17. As a trained musician with over 25 years in the music industry and an educator himself (Michael teaches drums privately), he is always chasing the right sounds to go with the right grooves for every individual song. Being the music co-arranger to the band, he has sessioned for several studio recordings locally and abroad. He draws drumming inspirations from world-renowned professionals like Gulli Briem (Mezzoforte), Simon Philips (Toto), Akira Jimbo (Casiopea), Craig Blundell, Aaron Spears, Chris Coleman, Anika Nilles and many more. His favourite music genre is Fusion Jazz…the funky type but is also fully flexible and inspired to play almost all genres of music. Michael tours with his band, The 4th Dimension (T4D) in and around the Asian region from Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and Namibia in the African continent. He has played for various artistes, both local and international, and have covered a wide genre of music across the board. Actively involved in both secular performances, music festivals and concerts as well as gospel music events. As an endorsee, he also conducts music workshops and drum clinics for music academies, music camps and also product workshops.
