Biography
Matt Trozzi grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario Canada. His love of started drumming at the age of 7, influenced by his father who had a passion for drums. By 13 he was playing local shows and school run events. A month after he turned 18 he joined an international touring band Deterrence. After experiencing life as a touring musician, there was no going back. At only 26 years of age, Matt has circled the world many times in various touring projects bringing his unique energy and style to each show. In September 2011 Trozzi was called in to fill the drumming void for the band "The Bunny The Bear" on Victory Records. He wrote and recorded drums on the album "The Stomach for It”. Which first got him familiar with working in the studio. The album charted 21 in the U.S heatseekers Charts. He’s since worked on multiple on studio on projects with producer David Bottril and others. In February 2016 Matt joined Canadian heavy rock band Sumo Cyco. Immediately touring UK and Europe supporting Butcher Babies and then across the USA on a nineteen date tour with Mushroomhead. Sumo Cyco co-headlined a UK tour with Devilskin with forging new relationship with the New Zealand based band resulting in a seven date tour across New Zealand. Sumo Cyco has also supported Hed PE in Europe and UK and Alien Ant Farm on a UK tour. Most recently Sumo Cyco has headlined UK with sold out dates, including an appearance at Hammerfest on main stage with Benji Webbe of Skindred joining them to perform "Move Mountains." Matt has been part of tours such as Warped Tour and festivals such as Sound of Music supporting The Offspring and Smashmouth. Matt has shared the stage with acts including, Escape the Fate, Funeral for a Friend, The Amity Affliction, Blood on the Dance Floor, New Years Day on various tours. With future tours lining up on his horizon, there’s no sign of Matt Trozzi slowing down anytime soon.
