Biography
Louise Anna Duggan is a London-based percussionist and composer. Groove based percussion with backing vocals, Middle Eastern Percussion, Frame Drums and Hammer Dulcimer are her particular specialisms. She works predominantly in the theatre, on the early music/folk circuit and as a session musician for film and pop. Louise plays percussion, dulcimer and sings backing vocals for Agnes Obel, and toured her latest album 'Citizen of Glass' in 2017/18 across Europe and North America. Featured performances in film include Louise Anna Duggan's solo improvisations for the film Macbeth starring Michael Fassbender, Assassin's Creed and the Oscar-nominated Jordanian film Theeb in conjunction with the London Contemporary Orchestra. She is also the percussion and dulcimer player for renowned early music ensemble Joglaresa led by Belinda Sykes. Her work in theatre includes Musical Director roles for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre (Running Wild at RPOAT and UK Tour 2017), Shakespeare’s Globe, (The Inn At Lydda, Boudica and Deutsche Bank's Taming of the Shrew), and the National Theatre (Deputy Musical Director, Everyman). Her work as percussionist in theatre includes performances for the Royal National Theatre (Everyman, From Morning to Midnight, She Stoops to Conquer, Emperor and Galilean, Grief), the Royal Shakespeare Company (The Tempest, As You Like It) and Shakespeare's Globe (As you like it, Hamlet). West End shows include deputy work for 42nd Street and Here to Eternity. Compositions for theatre include An Incident at the Border (Trafalgar Studios/Finborough Theatre), cocomposition on Running Wild with Nick Powell (Regent’s Park/Chichester Festival UK Tour 2017), and Henry IV for Royal Shakespeare Company Education in the House of Commons. Louise is composing the music for ‘Haiku Adventure’, a critically acclaimed indie game which is currently in development. She is also writing a debut album of Groove based instrumental music with her writing partner and husband Zands Duggan due for release in 2019. Louise Anna Duggan trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she received a First Class Honours degree and the Lady Mayoress Prize for Overall Excellence. Following her degree, she went on to become a Chamber Music Fellow at the Guildhall School. Louise teaches percussion at Harrow School.
