Biography

Katy Elwell (born in the UK in 1982) is a rock drummer currently performing in the band LIZZARD, a Rock Trio based in France. After growing up in a household of music lovers, Katy discovered a passion for drumming at the age of 16. Self-taught from day one, Katy played in many rock/metal acts before starting the band LIZZARD in 2006, which took her musical abilities to another level. LIZZARD have recorded four full length albums, one in Los Angeles with the legendary producer Rhys Fulber. They have extensively toured Europe, headlining or opening for acts such as Terry Bozzio, Adrian Belew Power Trio, Pat Mastelotto with ORK, Gavin Harrisson with the Pineapple Theif, SOEN, High On Fire... They also played a short tour in the U.S. and were invited to perform on Drum Channel. The band are currently signed to Pelagic Records.

    Sound character: A fusion of darkness, energy, projection and brilliance. Very wide range, complex, musical mix. Responsive feel, extremely controllable. Woody, silvery, spanky ping over crunchy, thriving wash. Extremely versatile, flexible ride for wide ranging application in modern blended music styles. Mark I: Tends to be a bit quieter, darker and drier. This manifests itself in the overall sound character and in particular in the bell and ping sound.
