Biography
Starting his musical journey with piano at age 8, Joel discovered the drum kit in music class at age 12 and hasn’t looked back since. A proud dropout of Toronto, Canada’s Humber College music degree program, Joel left school to get a taste of the touring life back in 2010 and fell in love straight away. He joined Walk Off The Earth in 2011, and in 2012 the group’s cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” went viral on YouTube and introduced them to audiences the world over. 6 years, 5 continents, hundreds of thousands of records, a Juno award for “Group Of The Year” and more than 1 billion online views later, the band continues to tour internationally, release covers and originals alike and is involved in a wide variety of multimedia projects at any given time.
