Biography

Jeffrey Stern began studying drums and percussion in Philadelphia with Armand Santarelli and later with Joe Morello. He graduated cum laude from Berklee College of Music, where he studied with famous jazz drummer Alan Dawson and world-renowned vibraphonist Gary Burton. After graduating from college Jeffrey moved to Los Angeles and studied with studio great Joe Porcaro. Since moving to Los Angeles he has performed on various film and TV scores including: “Roswell”, “Ridiculousness”, “Keeping Up With The Steins”, “Touched by an Angel”, “The Single Guy” and “Happily Everafter”. He has appeared on the nationally broadcast PBS Holiday Specials for 2009-2013. He has performed either live or on recording with various artists, including Debbie Allen, Animotion, Carmine Appice, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Tyne Daley, Rick Derringer, Neil Diamond, Rob Drydek, Perry Farrell, Russ Freeman, Larry Graham, Joel Gray, Peter Himmelman, Laurence Juber, Dave Koz, LA Raiders Big Band, Gloria Loring, Nils, Rosie Perez, Craig Taubman, The Temptations, Della Reese, Chita Rivera, Mare Winningham and Peter Yarrow. Jeffrey has always been active in education. In addition to having a roster of private students in his own studio he’s been a substitute teacher at The Musicians Institute, taught percussion and keyboard in the LAUSD Super School program and currently is a percussion coach at A. C. Stell and A. E. Wright Middle Schools in the Las Virgenes School District, Valley Girls High School, The Stephan S. Wise School and at The Yavneh Academy.
