Biography

Josh 'Jay Mera' Ugboma is a Nigerian, living in Ghana, West Africa. He is a Christian Rock/Fusion Artist. Jay currently works as Drummer/Percussionist with American International Gospel Artist - Micah Stampley, formerly the Music Producer/Director and Drummer for Ghana's Contemporary Gospel Artist - Cwesi Oteng, currently works as Musical Director/Arranger and Drummer with Ghana HipHop/Afro-Pop Global Artist E.L., Ghana HipHop artist Sarkodie, London-based Afrobeats Artist May7ven and his own band #FlightTheBand. He is the Founder/Host of the reputed Drummers event - "The RipOff Sessions" - an event that grooms and inspires young musicians all over West Africa and the globe. This event has become the blueprint for every other music clinic in Ghana and parts of West Africa. His personal mantra "..all I have was given to me..." has pushed Jay to inspire and create chances and opportunities for younger musicians to be able to do what they love on stages, by themselves - while he helps them build their confidence and personality with their music and their Instruments. His Mentors remain his 2 Brothers Emma and Chidi, the late great Marvin McQuitty Jr., friend and mentor Tony Royster Jr., Jeremy Haynes, Eric Morgan, Eric Moore II, Isaac Aryee, Micah Stampley, Calvin Rodgers, Horacio 'El-Negro' Hernandez, Vinnie Colaiuta, Christopher Coleman, Brian-Frasier Moore and a host of other acquaintances and Inspirations.
