„Paiste Cymbals create magic. And speak a clearly defined language. Their sound sits beautifully in the whole band without ever losing touch.“

Biography

Jakob Kiersch was born in Hannover, Germany, hometown of the legendary Hard Rock band The Scorpions. After trying the recorder and the piano, Jakob discovered the drums at the age of 13 and with them a life-long love. He immediately formed a band with his friends. Their first gig happened in the entrance of the church where his father would preach on Sunday morning. Jakob kept on continuously playing and practicing with idols like Alex Van Halen, John Bonham and Ginger Baker on his mind and headphones. Various bands and hundreds of concerts later, he co-founded the rock outfit Gods Of Blitz, playing headline tours, touring big festival stages across Europe and supporting artists like Wolfmother, Maximo Park and Henry Rollins. He also extensively toured and recorded with Julia Marcell, Rotfront, Electric Lizard, Ich-Zwerg, Payola and many more. Overall, Jakob has been featured on more than 30 releases. In 2009, Jakob was called to an audition in London. Soon after he joined the German synth pop band Alphaville. Since then, he has toured worldwide year after year and recorded two albums with Alphaville for Universal Music and a DVD “Alphaville live at the Whisky A Go Go”. Other artists Jakob is currently working with are Volkspark, Ina West and Lautmann. Taught by his father, Jakob has a long-time experience in meditation. Residing and working from Berlin, Germany, he teaches the mental approach to playing the drums and feeling well as a performer and in life in general. Kenny Wernerʼs book "Effortless Mastery” holds a great inspiration for him conveying the idea of finding the right “space” from where to play and perform in order to sound and feel well.
