Biography
Danny Byrt is a highly regarded Irish drummer/ percussionist based in the west of Ireland. He began playing drums at the age of 14 with the local Ennis Brass Band, and his love of traditional Irish music also led him to join his school band. Danny’s love and fascination of drums led him to purse his career as a working drummer from working in the local scene to moving to Dublin and studying with legendary jazz drummer John Wadham and then to studying at Drumtech in London. In 1993 Danny started working with Irish singer songwriter Sinead Lohan and began recording and touring with her until 2000. Throughout his career Danny has recorded/ toured with the following artists. Donovan. Ronan Keating. Eric Bibb. Foy Vance. Boris Grebenshchikov. Mary Black. Liam O Flynn. Stocktons Wing. Tommy Flemming. Francis Black. Sharon Shannon.Ralph McTell. The Priests. Brendan Bowyer. Karan Casey. Pat Shortt. Phil Coulter. Daniel O Donnell. Mairtin O Connor. Kilfenora Ceili Band. Claire O Riordan. Kathleen Turner. Danny is the house drummer on the TV show “Glór Tire “which airs on TG4 since it started in 2003.
