„Expression is key when playing the drums, and there’s no better way for a drummer to express themselves than by having a seemingly endless choice of cymbals, sounds and gongs. Paiste are constantly producing weird and wonderful ways to spice up the drumming world and I feel very fortunate to be part of the Paiste Family!“

Biography

Chris Williams is a freelance drummer and drum tutor based in the UK. He currently plays for grunge/metal band Plainview and post-rock/doom band Then Silence. Chris began playing drums in 1998 at the age of 11, and quickly became involved with several death and black metal bands in his local area, playing the circuit and recording various demos and EPs that were distributed at the shows. In 2006 Chris moved to Surrey where he studied for his Music Performance degree, and joined progressive death metal band Desolation, gigging and recording for the next couple of years. Chris went on to join hard rock band Counterpoint, recording their debut album ‘Alive’ in 2010. The album release was accompanied with a sold out European tour with Daughtry, followed by several UK & European tours over the proceeding 2 years, both headline and support. After Counterpoint Chris kept busy recording for various bands and artists, travelling to Nashville, Tennessee to record at the legendary Blackbird Studios with Grammy Award winning producer Vance Powell, before forming grunge/metal band Plainview in 2013. Plainview recorded their debut album in 2013, and followed this up by touring the UK extensively throughout 2014. In 2015 they produced their second record ‘Lifewish’ at Red City Recordings, Manchester, with Dave Radhad-Jones (ex-Heaven’s Basement) at the production helm. This was again followed by more touring and video releases. 2018 saw Chris opening his own tuition/recording studio in Surrey, where he currently teaches drummers of all ages, and records for several bands and artists. He also formed post-rock/doom band Then Silence who released their first album in October 2020.
