Brown Ubom is a Nigerian drummer based in the United Kingdom. Fondly called ‘BJ’ - he is a professional drummer known for his skills in Hip-Hop and RnB-styled drumming. Brown was brought up in a Pentecostal church, where he played in the worship band. This was his first taste of playing in a band, and he liked it. At the age of 17, BJ was among the finalists at the popular drum event “DRUM SAMPLES” held in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria in 2006 . This competition brought him to limelight and that’s where he got the name 'BJ'. It wasn’t long until his chops and skills on the drums were heard by some key professionals. Brown has played many tours with Nigerian Artists like Obiwon, Rasine Brown and worked with Square Records, Kaffy The Dance Queen and has shared stages with international acts like American Gospel Legends Kurt Carr, William Murphy, Ms. Kim Burrell in his duty as a drummer with The Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) ABUJA , where he won the Crystal Awards with The Avalanche. BJ also organizes lots of drum clinics to inspire up coming drummers with his annual drum event “GREEN RHYTHMS DRUM FESTIVAL” which is currently the biggest drum festival in Calabar. Brown has been influenced by Aaron Spears, Marvin McQuitty, Gerald Heyward , PapiJ, Jay Mera and more. His drumming style is very funky and technical. Brown currently heads FLIPTUNEZ - a musical band that has worked with a lot of Nigerian superstar musicians like Inyanya, MrEazi, Tossy Young ,T-Shawn, Victor Winn, Drucee, Rasine Brown and is a major feature at the Annual Calabar Christmas Festival . Bj currently works as the drummer for LMAM UK and is on tour with the band.
