Biography

Benedek was into music from the very beginning. As a child, he always asked for musical instruments from his parents. He tried almost everything but always ended up beating an old, worn-out snare drum. As years went by, he played the violin, the flute and even sang in his school choir. At the age of 14, he was stunned by the performances of Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver), so he decided to become a drummer. Soon, he got his first kit, and that was the "end" for him. In that period, he tried to imitate Matt's movements, grooves, and licks all the time. Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews Band) was the game-changer in his life. He introduced Benedek to the perks of open-handed playing, syncopated hi-hat patterns, and ghost notes. Listening to him playing the drums, you can recognize the influences of these two drummers to this day. For years now, he's been in two major Hungarian bands, called The Carbonfools and hiperkarma. They are constantly on the road touring or in the studio recording new material. Being in these two different bands with completely different genres made Benedek not only versatile but also adaptable and more committed to playing music all the time.
