Biography

Antti has worked as a freelance drummer and percussionist since 1993 starting in Finland. In the year of 1995, after playing in military band in Finland at age of 18, Antti moved to Greece for playing in jazz clubs, Bands and artist in popular music scene of Greece for 5 years. In between at age of 21 moving to New York City for advanced studies in small band jazz. During the years 2000-2007 in Finland for playing drums for one of the most significant bands in Finnish history; YÖ. During these years for working live and recording with multiple other artist’s and band’s and playing from 200 to 250 gig’s in a year. In 2007 Antti asked to break up from the band YÖ and moved to Paris France for 11 years for African music, teaching I and freelance drumming work and recording. During and since these years Antti played world tours with artist’s such as: Robin Guthrie, Mark Gardener, and still plays actively in Parisian music scene. Studies in drumming: PMO Finland, Manhatan School of Music, Drummers Collective N.Y, U.S.A. antti composes his own music in styles of groove, jazz and fusion. He is working actively today with a great composer and pianist: Kirill Zaborov. Own active music composition and active works today in Hammond organ oriented jazz and groove orchestra: Paron’s Royal Organs. Antti has published a drum method: Musical Metronome and solo album: Antti Mäkinen. Studies in drumming: PMO Finland, Manhatan School of Music, Drummers Collective N.Y, U.S.A. Antti is internationally endorsing Paiste cymbals, KUMU drums and Balbex stick’s.
