Biography

Having been born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Victor M. Ribas encountered music for the first time at the age of 5 when his mother and father entered him into piano lessons. Of Latin American and Swedish descent, his father is a physician and guitar player from Guatemala who encouraged Victor’s music career from a very young age. He gave Victor his first drum set on his 11th birthday and since then Victor has performed and recorded around the world. Growing up in the grunge mecca that is Seattle has proven highly influential to Victor's music. As a teenager he was involved with numerous Seattle local groups and quickly gained recognition as one of the top recording session drummers in the Seattle area. After graduating high school, he became involved in Drum Corp International (D.C.I.) as a performer. In 2010, Victor was tapped as the new drummer for Capitol Records artist HURT. Since then, Victor has enjoyed a very active touring, recording, and performance schedule. Currently Victor plays for the Los Angeles based group HURT, Los Angeles based group Smile Empty Soul, and Nashville artist Robert Bacon. He also enjoys a busy schedule as a recording artist for many of the Midwest’s finest studios and is frequently hired out for tours with artists from all around the nation. His bombastic and groove-oriented style of drumming has roots in Jazz, Latin, Contemporary, and Rock and Roll. As a very passionate musician, Victor is always looking for ways to give back to the industry and culture of music through education and raising awareness. He is a firm believer that if you’re not having fun, you’re doing something wrong.
