Biography

Paul Angers/Drummer & Educator Originally from Boston, Paul began playing drums for a Southern California drum corps at the age of ten. While attending school he enrolled in every music program he could find and by high school was performing with psychedelic rock bands, choirs and orchestras on a regular basis. Out of school Paul joined the Kingsmen Drum & Bugle Corps and became a more disciplined player. He studied with Murray Spivack & Walt Goodwin (of the L.A. Philharmonic) and became an “in-demand” drum teacher in Southern California. In the mid 70’s Paul branched out into touring and recording with Gentle Faith, Pat Boone and a host of other gospel groups and performers. Paul also became active in the L.A. studios working for Disney, Touchtone, Hollywood, Warner Brothers, HBO, Carolco and Paramount Motion Pictures. Presently, Paul is an independent drummer has been playing with the L.A. based band Shplang since 1994. A 25th year anthology of Shplang has recently been released on Big Stir Records. Paul also continues working with gospel and worship bands and can be heard most every Sunday in the L.A. area. Paul endorses Paiste Cymbals & Sakae Heritage Drums.
