Biography

After studying the violoncello and classical guitar, Nico Looser started to play the drums at the age of 13, inspired by bands like Santana, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Genesis. One year later he joined various bands and recorded his first alsbum with Nöggi. In 1981 Nico moved to New York, performed and recorded with various rock, pop, fusion, jazz and funk bands. Big Band experience under John Castellano. With his own bands The Splinters, Topshelf and Diving For Pearls he appeared in numerous NY clubs. Tours and recordings with Scarlet Rivera and Tracy Chapman were following. In the late 80s Nico joined Glamour Pop band Sluka with support act tours for Prince, Duran Duran and Bon Jovi. Back in Switzerland from 1992 on, Nico toured and recorded with several local and international top acts like Betty Legler, Fessler, Cyrano, Michael von der Heide, Pippo Pollina, Sina, Baschi, Max Mutzke and many more. His latest activities focused on Comedy Shows and tours with Marco Rima besides concerts with Swiss top acts Adrian Stern, Anna Rossinelli and others. Nico teaches at the Zuercher Hochschule der Kuenste ZHdK and the Musikschule Konservatorium Zuerich MKZ.
