Biography

At the age of thirteen, he was admitted to the attached middle school of Tianjin Conservatory of Music. He studied with Li Hongyu and studied classical percussion with Chen Shaolun. In 2014, he was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music's Department of Modern Instrumental Music and Percussion with a distinction of No. 1 in the major of popular percussion music. He studied with Chris and Chu Weiming. He has been invited to participate in teaching demonstrations and performances throughout the country and has been well received. He has performed with many foreign masters such as Dom Famularo, Lucas Van Merwijk, Ian forman, Antonio Hart, etc., and has received praise and recognition from foreign masters. And won the Xiamen International Percussion Competition professional youth group first place. In 2017 he toured the country with jazz piano professor Richard Sussman of the Manhattan School of Music and was highly praised. And often perform in Shanghai Jz club, on stage, wooden box and other clubs. He has performed frequently at Shanghai Jazz Music Festival, Shanghai Jazz Spring Music Festival, Strawberry Music Festival and other major music festivals. Founded Time Factory in 2017 and served as captain and arranger. In 2018, he won the first place in the first jazz master band competition held by Music China, JZ. Now he is the drummer of Chinese original musician Mr.Miss. He graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2018, and has been active in the jazz stage in Shanghai and Beijing for a long time. Zeng Hao, Tian Xin and other famous jazz musicians collaborated together. In 2018, he was admitted to Queens College-Aaron Copland School of Music in the United States. He studied under Antonio Hart, Dennis Mackrel, Michael Mossman, Ari Hoenig, Ulysses Owen Jr and other teachers. In 2019, he organized his own jazz trio, and held three special performances of "Shi Xu Trio" in Shanghai Wooden Box, Beijing East Coast, Jianghu, and DDC. In August 2019, he won the first place in the Xiamen International Percussion Competition Jazz Drum. And as an editorial board member, he participated in the preparation of the Shanghai Percussion Association Electric Drum Examination Course and the Shanghai Percussion Association Jazz Drum Examination Course. In 2020, he was invited to participate in an interview with Drum Channel in Los Angeles, and had an interview and performance with world-renowned drummer Thomas Lang.
