Biography

I consider myself fortunate to have grown up in the rich musical heritage of southern Louisiana. I realized a deep love for music very early on and made a drum out of everything starting at age three. My father was a musician and in one way or another music and musicians surrounded me thought my upbringing. I was immersed in jazz likely due to the home I was raised in, but I would not say I was a jazz musician. Truthfully, most of it was over my head and being a product of the 80's- and 90's very much played into the musician I became. I love the song. I love the emotion of whatever I am involved in and for better or worse I love playing the drums. My first musical experiences musically were a mix of high school marching band, the onset of grunge, plenty of jazz in my home, and working with ten piece adult horn band at 16 years old. My formative years were much like the beginnings of a good gumbo. I was able to take some lessons with some heavy weights in the area Roy Hebert, Herman Jackson of Southern University, and the New Orleans master Johhnny Vidacovoch. I relocated to South Texas in my early twenty's and began cutting my teeth 5 nights a week in local blues, rock, and pop bands. I have always been in situations with older more experienced players and I credit much of my development to that. Over the past 25 years of my professional career I have shared stages with some big names artist and traveled extensively thought the region and as far as Los Angeles. I have played in front of 150,000 people and I have also played shows to an empty venue. I was able to harness my love for "the song" and carry my drumming into the studio and I have recorded on dozens of records with some notable producers who consider me their first call. I have developed a love for teaching and sharing my experiences with younger students and I maintain an active teaching roster. I have been fortunate to secure endorsement relationships with Paiste cymbals, Aquarian drumheads, Innovative Percussion drumsticks, and Joyful Noise drums. Some of these relationships afforded me the opportunity and a platform to conduct drum clinics and share my passion for the instrument and for music. My heart for people and love for drumming has come together in perfect ratio in church and out of everything I have been able to do nothing brings me as much joy as leading others in worship from the drums. It is an honor. It is a calling. My hope is to continue to use my gifts a talent in whatever capacity to bring joy to and inspire others and most importantly bring glory to my savior Jesus Christ without whom nothing I have done would be possible. Drumming is my passion and I continue to pursue excellence while holding humility tightly in hand.
