Biography

21.06.1944-12.06.2018 Jon Hiseman co-founded Colosseum in 1968, who successfully fused Jazz, Rock and Blues, and advanced to one of the most influencing British drummers. He later established Colosseum II with guitarist Gary Moore and today’s Deep Purple keyboarder Don Airey. Jon further took credit for his work with the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble. In addition he accompanied his wife Barbara Thompson. Hiseman started using two bass drums in 1965, long before any others, in a free Jazz context. He also brought several Gongs on stage and included them in his virtuosic, up to 15 minutes long drum solos. Jon Hiseman was struggling with a brain tumor, before he died in 2018.
