Biography
Education I studied music at the Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory and have since then worked as a freelance musician/drum teacher. Teaching I teach drums and music in Sibelius Academy Jazz Music Department, the Metropolia and Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, the Pop & Jazz Conservatory and the Porvoo Region Music Institute. Current bands Some of my recent bands include DDT jazzband, Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera, The Great Helsinki Swing Big Band, Sarpila & Hovi Quartet, Strandberg Project, Bianca Morales, Slim Cuts and Pepe Willberg. Studio work I have played on approx. 5000 audio tracks of such artista and bands as Kirka, Paula Koivuniemi, Katri-Helena, Lenni-Kalle Taipale, Ami Aspelund, Maarit, Pepe Willberg, Umo, Espoo Big Band, Jukka Linkola, Markku Johansson, Pentti Lahti, John Adams, Bianca Morales, Puppe Strandberg and Slim Cuts. Awards Musician of the Year Award by Finnish record companies in 1990 and Jazz Drummer of the Year by the Jazz Magazine in 1990. Bands I have worked as a permanent member of Umo Helsinki Jazz Orchestra, Espoo Big Band, Linkola Tentet, Avanti Orchestra and The Great Helsinki Swing Big Band.
