Biography

Drummer and Composer born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Graduated from the DR Conservatory and currently from Berklee College of Music. Ivanna has been part of important groups in the Dominican Republic such as Carijazz, Gustavo Rodríguez Trio, Javier Vargas and Atre, The Big Band of the Conservatory of Music directed by Javier Vargas, etc. In 2018, Ivanna started to be part of the Paiste Cymbals family. In 2019, she won first place in the "Hit like a Girl 2019" contest, where she then participated in PASIC 2019 in Indianapolis. Ivanna has performed with artists such as Concha Buika (México Tour), Kris Davis (Dizzy's NY), Dee Dee Bridgewater, Cassandra Wilson, Leo Blanco, Jacques Schwarz-Bart (Martinica Tour), Nando Michelin Quartet, Tia Fuller, Luisito Quintero, Sócrates García Big Band, Jane Bunette and Maqueque (Canada Tour), and Sona Jobarteh. In addition, she has studied with Neal Smith, Terri Lyne Carrington, Francisco Mela, Tia Fuller, John Riley, among others. In 2017 she started her own group The Unity Ensemble. Ivanna is currently part of the "Berklee Institute for Jazz and Gender Justice" directed by Terri Lyne Carrington.
