Gavin began drumming as a kid, studying with Chuck Brown prodigy (and fellow Paiste Guy), Jeff Campitelli (Joe Satriani). In high school, Gavin played in a funk metal band, opening for Primus, Field Mice, Limbomaniacs and many more. Then at 17, Gavin joined Dance Hall Crashers and began recording and touring in earnest, also doing side-gigs in college with UC Jazz at Cal. When DHC members began settling down and starting families, Gavin continued playing with country groups and cover bands in and around the SF Bay Area. He exclusively plays Paiste cymbals and Boom Theory drums and lives with his wife, two sons, three dogs, six cats and eight chickens in Northern California.
