Biography

At the age of 8: first drum lessons in a percussion group. At the age of 10: single drum lessons at music school Konstanz (Germany). When I was 14 we moved to Marburg – there I focused on Rock and Metal drumming and got into my first bands. Since 1998 drummer for Edguy. Since 2008 drummer in Avantasia Since 2018 drummer for Sascha Paeth's Masters of Ceremony I've played many shows all around the world and intend to do so in the future.

    Sound character: A fusion of darkness, energy, projection and brilliance. Very wide range, complex, musical mix. Responsive feel, extremely controllable. Woody, silvery, spanky ping over crunchy, thriving wash. Extremely versatile, flexible ride for wide ranging application in modern blended music styles. Mark II: Tends to be a bit livelier and brighter. This manifests itself in the overall sound character and in particular in the bell and ping sound. Mark II also has a bit more volume potential due to its more open character.

Exotic type of china that also offers the sound and function of a crash cymbal. Its unique shape makes both the bell and downward turned china edge accessible at once. Provides a strong, sizzling and deep layered china sound that is perfectly suited for any styles of Rock music and for other unique applications and percussive settings.
