Biography

Born in 1981 in Bregenz, Austria, Claudio started playing percussion at the age of seven. He was trained as a classical percussionist at the Vorarlberg Conservatory for Music in Austria and received his Bachelor of Arts with distinction in 2004. In 2004, he started his private studies with Hakim Ludin. Under Hakim Ludin´s wing he learned the language and the art of playing hand percussion. In 2008, the product of the student/maestro relationship developed into the founding of the innovative duo program called Percussion Discussion. Always striving for improvement Claudio studied with great musicians like Luis Conte, Karuna Murthy, Steve Smith, Alex Acuña, Richie Gajate-Garcia, Cepillo and Selvaganesh. Claudio performs in a wide range of musical styles with his current ensembles Tevana, Ragga Gröndal and the Groovetrotters. He has worked with many different artists including Karen Lugo, Abbos Kosimov, Phil Maturano, Konstantin Wecker, Peter Madsen, Claus Hessler and Tania Kross; and has been invited to perform at well-known festivals like Reykjavik Jazz Festival, Flamenco Biennale Netherlands, Jazzfestival Saalfelden, Festival de la Habana in Cuba and many more. Claudio is in great demand as a percussion instructor and has given workshops at several prestigious music institutions and drum camps such as the „The Austrian Percussion Camp“ and the „Percussion Creativ Drum Camp“. Claudio now resides in Austria and the Netherlands where he is continually working to reach new levels musically and artistically.
