Biography
Claudio Spieler is a versatile and dedicated Austrian percussionist especially skilled at the South Indian kanjira and konnakol. He performs at festivals and venues from Havanna to Reykjavik and teaches at drum camps and universities all over Europe. After graduating cum laude in classical percussion, he did eight years of private master studies with renowned percussionist Hakim Ludin and kanjira master Selvaganesh Vinayakram. Together with drummer Claus Hessler, Claudio published the instructional book Taladiddle - konnakol meets rudimental drumming. As a solo artist and as part of several international projects his specialisations include South Indian and Latin music, flamenco and interactive concerts for children. Claudio's style of playing is subtle, imaginative, humorous and above all virtuoso, radiating the pure pleasure of making music.
