Biography

Ancel Klooster studied classical percussion and drums at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen (The Netherlands). He studied drums at the Drummers Collective in New York (USA) with great drummers such as Kim Plainfield, Adam Nussbaum, Zach Danziger, Bobby Sanabria and Duduka da Fonseca. In 2011 he made a drum education trip to Boston and New York where he had private lessons with John Riley, Yoron Israel, Bob Moses, Bob Gulotti and Jim Payne. Currently he is writing his first drumbook, based on all the lessons and based on teaching drums for 25 years. He toured to Australia and New Sealand with the ‘PBG brassband’ in 1988. Playing rock with ‘Weekend at Waikiki’ in Berlin and festivals in Holland. The band ‘Springen’ brought him to Italy and Liechtenstein. Playing rhythm and blues with ‘Jumping the blues’, big band with the ‘New Metronome Band’ on gigs and festivals in the Netherlands and Germany. He played musicals as ‘Chicago’ and 42’nd Street in the major Dutch theatres as Beatrixtheater Utrecht, Luxor Rotterdam and Carré Amsterdam. He plays modern creative now-jazz with 'Klatwerk3' (6 CDs, national radio NPS), the newest CD "A Space Age Suite" was recorded in October 2021 and will be released Spring 2022. His first drumbook "The Drum Grillbook" (in cooperation with Peter Deiman) is published in 2021 by Hudson Music New York, Peter Erskine wrote: "A brilliant method".
