With a heavy heart we share the sudden death of Fredy Studer, a life-long colleague and friend to the Paiste family and company, and one of the most extraordinary artists to hail from Switzerland in modern times.
From 1970 to 2015, during a remarkable 45 years of service, Fredy made substantial contributions to the Paiste company and brand.
Starting out in Drummer Service, Fredy was actively involved during a time when many of today’s legendary Paiste drummers made their choice to exclusively use the company’s instruments. Under the tutelage of Pierre Favre, another famous Swiss drummer, Fredy’s involvement in quality control and a growing collaboration with Robert Paiste led to his induction into Sound Development, where Fredy participated in milestone projects and helped shape the sound of Paiste instruments over decades.
In a parallel relationship that endured a life-time, Paiste considered Fredy a top endorser and ambassador.
Fredy’s artistic career first took on significant importance through the founding of the ground breaking Rock-Jazz formation “OM”, which went on to earn critical acclaim with its unique and limitless blend of Jazz, Rock, free improvisation, and world music influence. Indeed, throughout his life, Fredy continued to brilliantly and uncompromisingly pursue eclectic musical projects that defied boundaries and embraced experimentalism to the fullest.
Fredy was a profoundly valuable member of our team, and we continue to honor him in our hearts and minds.

Schweren Herzens teilen wir den plötzlichen Tod von Fredy Studer mit, einem lebenslangen Kollegen und Freund der Paiste-Familie und -Firma und einem der aussergewöhnlichsten Künstler, welche die Schweiz in der Neuzeit hervorgebracht hat.
Von 1970 bis 2015, während bemerkenswerten 45 Jahren, leistete Fredy wesentliche Beiträge zum Unternehmen und zur Marke Paiste.
Angefangen im Drummer Service, war Fredy in einer Zeit aktiv, in der viele der heute legendären Paiste-Drummer sich entschieden, ausschliesslich Instrumente der Firma zu benutzen. Fredy war ein äusserst wertvolles Mitglied unseres Teams, und wir werden ihn in unseren Herzen und Gedanken in Ehren halten.
