Biography

Sebastian Farrugia was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on April 12, 1976. At the age of 3 he moved to the city of Tijuana in the company of his family. He therefore considers himself a musician made and raised 100% in Tijuana. His life has always been linked to music thanks to his father, also the Uruguayan musician and legendary drummer Gonzalo Farrugia, who was part of the bands "Psiglo" and "Crucis" among others. At the age of 15, he formed his first rock band called '' Penumbra De Almas '' with whom in a short time they opened concerts in Tijuana for bands such as '' Turbulencia Kaótica '' '' Specimen '' '' Existencia'' '' Cambio de Humor Violento '' among others At age 17 he is part of his second band '' Flow '' with whom he is also is part of the Tijuana scene and shares the stage with bands like '' Mexican Jumping Frijoles '', '' Tijuana No '', '' Nessie '', among many others, soon after he decided to dedicate himself more professionally to music as part of the Tijuana band "La Piedra" with whom he began a season at the legendary "Hard Rock Café" 'Tijuana. After that, he is requested by various city groups such as “Linea Cero,” “El Resto,” ‘’ Turbulencia Kaotica ’’ “Hongo de Gina,” among others. After a few years of working on different projects in Tijuana, he decided to move to CDMX where he joined the band of singer Jeanette Chao and also collaborated in musical projects with his old bandmate Armando Hernandez (Linea Cero) who was at the time arranger and composer for Warner Chappell México. After a while he decides to return to the city of Tijuana where he is part of the Band '' Antrobot '' with his former partner from '' Flow '' Louis Rodiger '' with whom he begins to explore instrumental and Ambient music. After the separation of this group, he joins the instrumental rock band “Ambiente” with whom he participated in the 2006 RockAmpeonato Telcel, becoming finalists to go to appear in the final at the Palacio de los Deportes in CDMX. It is there where he meets the musician and composer ''Paco Huidobro'', guitarist of “Fobia” and it is he who contacts him with Andres Velasco, a member of the group “Chikita Violenta” with whom he joins in August 2009. In turn, he participates with the renowned musician Roberto Mendoza one of the members of the Nortec Collective in its Nortec Panóptica Orchestra project. Soon after, he is requested by different CDMX bands such as Los Daniels, Motel, among others. In 2013 he joined the capital band ''Rey Pila'' with whom he made several tours of the United States, Europe and Mexico playing in the most important festivals such as "Austin City Limits", "Ceremonia", "Vive Latino", "SXSW", "Ruido Fest" he has also participated in festivals such as "40 major", "Corona Capital" among many others. Sebastian has shared stages with bands such as The Strokes, Interpol, Julian Casablanca and The Voidz, The Rentals, Maroon 5, Molotov, among others. He currently resides in the city of Tijuana where he has collaborated with different musicians in the region, integrating the Tijuana band "Little Asteroide" and where he has also been inclined to teach music by giving workshops and courses applied to his main instrument, the drums. Recently he has collaborated with the Tijuana band or collective called “Fuimos Venados” that bases its musical concept as a ritual, paying homage to the indigenous cultures of the region. Also collaborating with the legendary Mexican rock band "Fobia" as a guest drummer in what was the first MTV Unplugged in history filmed without an audience in the middle of a pandemic.
