Nottwil/Switzerland – The
renowned Swiss cymbal maker Paiste announces a major expansion of the Twenty
Series, to be unveiled at the 2008 Musikmesse in Frankfurt.
The Twenty Series was first launched in 2007, when Paiste set out to chart
new horizons in the world of cymbal sound. To create the cymbals, the company
utilizes blanks of traditionally cast SnBz20 bronze obtained from its Turkish
partner Murat Diril, which it then treats and refines in their Swiss manufacture
using time-honored manual hammering and lathing methods.
In the process, the two worlds combine to create cymbals with a completely
new blend of sound character and feeling that defies pre-conceived notions
about origin and sound. Twenty cymbals thus feature at once the clarity,
definition, functionality and musical harmony that are the hallmark of Paiste,
and the dark, mystic and deeply warm musical feeling that is intrinsic to
the original, ancient Turkish bronze.
First introduced in 2007 in a concept proving and ground breaking essential
configuration, the Twenty assortment now undergoes a major expansion, as
the company completes an ambitious development process in response to world-wide
requests by drummers and percussionists for additional models in the critically
acclaimed series.
As part of the greatly expanded selection, additional sizes in all the existing
main-stream models are now offered, which include the Ride
in 21", the
Crash in 17", 19" and 20", the Hi-Hat in
12" and 15",
the Splash in 8" and 12", and the China
in 20". A new section
of lighter models is added to the assortment, which consists of the Light
Ride in 20" and 22", the Thin Crash
in 16", 17" and 18",
and the Light Hats in 14". Two new China Models round out the expansion,
the Mini China in 8", 10" and 12", and the Thin
China in 14",
16" and 18".
Throughout 2007, Paiste has been able to gain a significant group of artists
to endorse Twenty cymbals, and expects to greatly expand on that success
with the additional sound choices offered. Coinciding with the 2008 launch,
Paiste releases a new piece of literature for the Twenty, which features
a selection of Top Artists endorsing the series, and an in-depth presentation
of all the available models.
Twenty cymbals, from the alloying to the hammering and lathing of the cymbals,
are entirely made by hand according to ancient and traditional methods.
