Biography

The music career of Tzu-Heng “Chicken” Chuang started in his junior high school. He was deeply influenced by Taiwanese rock and pop music, and played guitar in the guitar club at first. During his high school time, his friends were trying to start a band and needed a drummer. Tzu-Heng then thought it was a good idea to try something new and thus he began his drumming career. After seeing the pop-punk bands' music videos like Green Day, Sum41 and Blink-182 on the MTV channel, he became inspired to play punk music.

Tzu-Heng started the formal band "punkhoo" in college. They wrote their own songs and started their gigs and tours. Punkhoo became gradually popular in the Taiwanese punk scene, and was often invited to some famous festivals such as FORMOZ, MEGAPORT, and Spring Scream. They also won the first prize of HOHAIYAN in 2006, which was the important milestone of Taiwan's Indie Music. The band was then invited to Unionway Fest. in Japan. During the following year, they had an Asia Tour and released their mini album "Reversing the Furture." During this tour they played over 20 shows in Taiwan, Japan and China. The same year, Tzu-Heng started another band "DSPS", which was completely different from the punk music of punkhoo. DSPS has allowed ‘Chicken’ to present a completely different style of drumming!
