Sebastian Farrugia was born in 1976 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. However, at the age of three his family moved to Mexico, settling in the border city of Tijuana.
Coming from a family of musicians, he developed an interest in drums at an early age by watching his father, legendary Uruguayan drummer Gonzalo Farrugia (Psiglo, Nickel, Porsuigieco and Cross).
At the age of 15 he began his career as a professional drummer in the city of Tijuana, where he is hired by various groups in the area where he afforded an opportunity to explore many genres such as rock, punk, pop, funk and jazz.
Sebastian has toured in Mexico, United States, Colombia and Uruguay, and played with artists like Jorge Villamizar (Bacilos), Janette Chao, Environment, Panóptica Orchestra, Violent Chikita, The Daniels, Motel and Glasmus among others.
He has also performed at high-profile music festivals such as Vive Latino, South by Southwest, Rockampeonato Telcel, Crown Equity and Top 40.
Sebastian is currently a member of Rey Pila, a Mexican rock band formed in Mexico City in 2010 and signed to Cult Records (Julian Casablancas – The Strokes). Sebastian has toured the United States and opened for artists such as Interpol, Brandon Flowers (The Killers) and The Rentals. He has toured in Europe as well and opened for Albert Hommond, Jr. (The Strokes) and has performed at major festivals such as Austin City Limits, Noise Fest (Chicago), SXSW, Vive Latino (in Mexico, DF) among many others.
