Biography
Armed with a family lineage of musicians, Edward Villanueva fostered his passion for music at a very early age. His father, a professional drummer, introduced Edward to his first drum set when he was only nine years old. At age 15 he entered the professional circuit performing with several Tejano bands and while continuing to perform he studied sound and commercial music at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. There he not only honed his skills as a musician, but also developed a deeper knowledge of the music business.
Edward is currently touring with the Josh Abbott Band, an independent band from Austin, Texas that has been making waves in country music. The band plays over 200 shows a year and has been touring and selling out venues throughout the South, Southeast, Midwest, and West Coast regions, as well as Europe. During Edward’s time with the Josh Abbott Band, he has shared the stage with Country Stars, Gary Allan, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Eli Young Band, Pat Green, and Randy Rogers Band. The band’s first nationally released single charted #44 on the Billboard Country Chart, an almost unprecedented feat for independent artists in the genre.
In late 2011 Edward and the rest of the Josh Abbott Band headed into the studio to record their highly anticipated third full-length studio album that is set for release in Spring 2012.
