After years of dreaming, aided by a few summers' worth of lawn mowing money, Erich bought his first drum kit from a local pawn shop at 15. After a short while, he was gigging in and around Wichita, KS, where he grew up, and then got his first professional gig 8 months in. He decided to pursue music as a profession and moved to Nashville, TN, in the fall of 2004. He played in bands and with numerous indie artists in town before landing a job playing for country artist David Nail. Since June of 2009, Erich has played hundreds of shows, from clubs to theaters to arenas to stadiums, coast to coast, as a member of David's road band.
In January 2012 they celebrated David's very first number one hit, "Let It Rain," by performing it on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Erich has also appeared on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and was featured along with the rest of the band in the music video for "Turning Home." David has been nominated for an Academy of Country Music award for the top ten song "Red Light," and "Turning Home" received a Grammy nomination.
When he's not on the road with David Nail, Erich does plenty of songwriting and studio work in Nashville. When he's not recording or writing, Erich is probably hanging out with his wife and daughter, or trying to be just like Levon Helm.
