Biography


Born in Emmendingen, Germany, Andi Bühler started playing the drum set and mandolin at the age of six. After studying at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern, Andi received a scholarship at Drummer’s Collective in New York, where he studied under Ian Froman, Antonio Sanchez and Pete Retzlaff.

Currently Andi is living in Berlin and working as an educator at the First Drum School Berlin and the music school LaViolette. With playing in many different bands and projects Andi is able to freely express his stylistic versatility. His funk quartet “Drop Four” won the Berlin Jazz & Blues Award of the Jazz initiative in 2005. Other projects Andi is involved in are Vallesanta Corde (folkloric, tango and klezmer) and Electric Krause (jazz trio). Together with David Pätsch and Chris Heiny he formed the drum trio Playmobeat in 2009.
