Biography

Dave Clifford started playing drums in 1995 upon formation of synth-punk pioneers The VSS. Learning drums on-the-fly with the band recording its first EP and launching a tour after just 3 months of playing he developed a hard-hitting and somewhat unusual style. The VSS split up in 1997, with 3/4th of the band continuing on as Pleasure Forever and releasing two albums on Sub Pop before dissolving in 2004.

Later that year, Clifford joined L.A. post-rock quintet Red Sparowes (consisting of members of Neurosis and Isis) who have to date released two albums on Neurot Recordings and one full length and one EP via Sargent House, as well as toured North America and Europe extensively. He also toured in and played on the debut by Red Sparowes side-project Marriages titled Kitsune (Sargent House), and played drums on the album Aokigahara by related precursor The Nocturnes featuring singer/guitarist Emma Rundle (also of Marriages & Red Sparowes.) Clifford also currently drums for L.A. psych-noir band Jail Weddings (Burger Records, Neurotic Yell), LVMRKS (ex-Trail of Dead, ex-Hella) and a new yet unnamed project with members of Isis.
