Born in Copenhagen, Denmark Frederik Bokkkenheuser started playing drums at the age of 7 when his mother got sick of him banging on pots and pans. Frederik played his first professional gig at the age of 14 and has continued to have a steady rise in his career both touring and recording. After gigging and recording for years in Denmark and Europe, Frederik felt the need to move to Los Angeles, Califonia.
After a lot of networking, a lot of going out on his own, and a lot of free gigs with very diverse and questionable artists, Frederik got his first tour in the fall of 2007 with Jay Nash, whom he still plays with today. Since then, he’s been lucky to add a lot of very talented singer/songwriters and musicians to his touring and recording resume.
Frederik joined Paiste in the July 2008. Frederik quotes, “I first started talking with Paiste about an endorsement in May 2008, and to be honest I was a little reluctant. I have always been playing carefully picked hand hammered cymbals and had the idea of Paiste being too loud for my taste. I was very wrong! I was invited out to hear for myself and quickly realized this company has a great range of cymbals no matter what kind of player you are. I instantly fell in love with the Signature, Traditionals, Dark Energy and Twenty series. For my playing they are the best…what great cymbals! Big, dark, slow, full sounding. Perfect for a very dynamic style of playing, and still great for rocking out. I have a wide selection of Paiste cymbals, which makes it possible for me to have the right set up for any particular artist or session needs.”
“Being a touring artist and having the schedule I do, it’s not always possible to bring your cymbals to a “one off” gig or session. I must say I’m very pleased with the great service that Paiste has provided for me both in the U.S. and in Europe. Paiste is always there - having cymbals ready for me everywhere. Again I’m impressed with the consistency of the sound, it’s simply amazing, always stunning!”
