Biography
A tireless veteran of the music scene, he has been sharing his passion for music for over four decades. He can be found as a drummer, composer or arranger in various projects and groups, in eclectic repertoires ranging from "jazz to java", or in recording sessions. He has also been involved in music teaching since 1980. He has been the director of the music and dance academy of the BoCe du Hainaut since 2010 and directs several orchestral ensembles. Born in Charleroi (Belgium) and coming from a family in which music has a primordial place, he was quickly attracted by popular music and rock 'n' roll and it is quite naturally that he starts to travel the roads as a drummer in various groups of dances, varieties and theatres. He began his musical studies at the age of 11, first on the clarinet and then on percussion. He began his professional career at the age of 18. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels in percussion and jazz drums. He also played in various large orchestras such as the Belgian National Orchestra, the RTBF, the Brussels Festival Orchestra, the Ardennes Hunters' Band and various contemporary ensembles. In the 1990s, he entered the television industry, which gave him the opportunity to meet and work with renowned artists. He has notably accompanied and played with the Golden Gate Quartet, Philippe Lafontaine, Nicole Croisille, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, Musiques Nouvelles, Nancy Holloway, Toots Thielemans, Salvatore Adamo, Claude Barzotti, ChrisIan Merveille, Annie Cordy, Jo Destré, Gilbert Montagné, Richard Ruben, André Lamy, ChrisIan Morin, Marc Grauwels, Titanic Ensemble, Aaron, Jean-Francois Maljean & ... Jeff Bodart... In 2017, he joined the new musical team of Belgian-Italian singer Frederic François. Since 1992, he manages a company active in the artistic field (JCPRO) which offers a multitude of services including all types of services, composition and musical arrangement, production and recording, direction etc... With more than 30 years of teaching experience as a percussion, drums and instrumental ensemble teacher in various music academies in the French community and abroad, and as a lecturer at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, JC has been the director of the Academy of Music and Dance of the BoCe du Hainaut since October 2010. He also teaches jazz ensemble, instrumental ensemble, rhythm, MAO and general jazz training. He is the author of methods and pieces dedicated to the learning of rhythm, percussion and ensemble music.
